Kings Heath F.C. was founded at the Horse Shoe pub in 1964 and originally played in the South Birmingham League before progressing to the Mercian League after much success. A host of honours soon came their way amongst them being the Division One Championship, the Mercian Senior Cup on several occasions and the Aston Villa shield.

After changing their name to Kings Heath Amateurs the club moved into the Second Division of the Midland Combination and within three seasons had twice been finalists in the Presidents Cup and then in 1983-84 were runners-up in the league and promoted to the Premier Division.

After several seasons in the Premier Division Kings Heath decided to begin expensive improvements to their ground at The Glen in Solihull but unfortunately their backer suddenly ran out of funds and work came to an abrupt halt. The pitch was left with a large hole in the middle where a bulldozer had been levelling and only the footings of the new clubhouse could be seen. Officials refused to give in and took the club to groundshare with Knowle and later at Shirley Town but the facilities were not up to Premier standard and so the club, after nine seasons in the top level, was relegated back to Division One.

After helping to upgrade the ground at Shirley Town the club won promotion back to the Premier Division when finishing runners-up in 1992-93. Their best season in the Premier was in 1999-2000 when they finished as runners-up to Nuneaton Griff and in 2000-2001 reached the Quarter-finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup before bowing out to West Bromwich Albion.

A groundshare at Alvechurch was followed by one at Kenilworth Town before the club took over the former Paget Ranger’s Vale Stadium at Farnborough Road, Castle Vale after Romulus moved out. The club now became known as Castle Vale Kings Heath or K.H. for short.

In the summer of last year plans were mooted to move the first team to Kenilworth but officials and supporters kept the club at Castle Vale and the ‘new club’, Castle Vale F.C. hopes to settle down at the Vale Stadium for many years to come, the nomadic life is over!
